S.1 and S.5 Class Day Celebrated at Tororo Girls School – 12th April 2025

On Saturday, 12th April 2025, Tororo Girls School hosted a vibrant and memorable Class Day celebration for Senior One (S.1) and Senior Five (S.5) students. The event, held within the school premises, brought together students, parents, teachers, and administrators in a show of unity, gratitude, and celebration of academic progress.

The day officially began at 9:00 AM with warm and lively welcome remarks from the day's Masters of Ceremony, Mr. Ocul Thomas Baker and Mr. Mugumya Osward. They joyfully ushered in the guests, appreciating parents for honoring the school’s invitation and for their unwavering support in the education of their daughters.

Class Representatives Show Appreciation

The audience was graced by heartfelt speeches from class representatives. Nanyanzi Clara Sebaduka and Abitimo Christa Paula spoke on behalf of S.1 students, while Alowo Fortunate represented S.5. They extended their gratitude to the school administration and teaching staff for the tireless effort they put into nurturing and educating them. The students also thanked their parents for the sacrifices made, especially in ensuring timely payment of school fees and offering emotional and financial support.

House and Class Teacher Representatives Speak

In a show of student leadership and mentorship, house representatives delivered powerful speeches that resonated with the spirit of discipline and unity in the school. Ms. Aloyo Concy (Senior House), Mugaba Peruth (Red House), and Mr. Owere Gabriel Damascus (Head of House Teachers) shared reflections on how house activities contribute to holistic student development and discipline.

The voices of the class teachers were also heard with Mr. Isale James speaking on behalf of the S.5 class and Mr. Barabwiriza Abdul representing S.1. Both teachers commended the learners for their positive attitude towards learning and thanked the parents for their cooperation and support throughout the term.

Inspiring Peer Guest Speakers

Adding inspiration to the day were three peer guest speakers – Ms. Laker Gladys, Nandera Dorothy, and Acen Catherine – who encouraged fellow students to stay focused, be resilient, and embrace every opportunity provided by the school.

Curriculum Updates and Administrative Reports

As part of the day’s agenda, Mr. Okiring Godfrey, Head of Class Teachers, delivered a unifying message encouraging teamwork among staff and students. Following this, Mr. Ekisa George took the parents through the New Lower Secondary Curriculum, explaining its objectives, structure, and the role of parents in supporting learners at home.

The event also featured comprehensive updates from the school’s deputy headteachers: Mrs. Abalo Collins (Deputy in charge of Administration) and Mr. Eboko Francis. They reported on the general well-being of learners, emphasizing the school’s commitment to academic excellence and student welfare.

Final Remarks and Parents’ Feedback

The climax of the event came with closing remarks from the Headteacher, who praised both students and staff for the smooth execution of the term’s activities. He then welcomed reactions from the parents.

Many S.1 and S.5 parents took to the floor, expressing heartfelt appreciation to the school. As first-time parents at Tororo Girls School, several spoke highly of the warm environment, good discipline, and promising academic culture they had witnessed. They commended the school for its strong leadership and the great potential it has to nurture future leaders.
