On Saturday, 30th November 2024, Tororo Girls’ School held its Annual General Meeting (AGM), marking a vibrant and productive day for parents, teachers, and stakeholders in the school community. The event, rich in engagement and forward-looking discussions, began with a school tour at 9:00 a.m., followed by an e-tour projected in the multipurpose hall. Parents attended in large numbers, demonstrating their commitment to the institution's growth and development.

School Tour and E-Tour

The day kicked off with an insightful school tour, allowing parents to witness firsthand the school’s ongoing projects, facilities, and learning environment. The e-tour, creatively showcased in the multipurpose hall, provided an immersive virtual experience for those unable to join the physical tour, highlighting the innovative strides Tororo Girls’ School is taking toward modernization.

The Meeting Commences

At 10:00 a.m., the official AGM proceedings began, skillfully guided by the Masters and Mistress of Ceremonies: Mr. Namudala Emmanuel, Mr. Emeru Edison, and Ms. Oryem Grace. Their dynamic coordination set an engaging tone for the day’s activities.

Remarks by Local Leadership

The LC 1 Chairman, Mr. Ocul Thomas Baker, addressed the gathering, emphasizing the importance of community support in fostering educational excellence. He lauded the collaborative spirit between the school and the surrounding community, which has been instrumental in its achievements.

Head Girl’s Inspirational Speech

One of the event's highlights was the heartfelt speech by the Head Girl, Jamen Ngel Fortunate Ower. The Headteacher, Mrs. Akware Beatrice Lumonya, gave a detailed report on the school’s accomplishments and challenges. She shared updates on significant projects, including:

  • The mega dormitory, nearing completion, to accommodate the growing student population.
  • Plans for constructing a bus shade for the recently acquired school bus.

PTA Treasurer’s Report and Guest Speaker

Ms. Naula Winfred, the PTA Treasurer and Manager at Housing Finance Bank, presented a comprehensive financial report, outlining the prudent utilization of funds and future financial plans. Election of the New PTA Executive

The election of the new PTA Executive was conducted by the Municipal Education Officer, Mrs. Makola Teddy Obo. The democratic process saw parents actively participating to select leaders who will continue driving the school’s vision forward.

Following the elections, the Chairperson of the Board of Governors, Mr. Elisha Obella, delivered concluding remarks.
